John Vaughan - Consultant

practice that primarily involves wills, probate and estates.
John is one of only 34 accredited specialists in NSW in wills, probate and estates. With John's vast experience and accredited specialisation, you are guaranteed the best advice and service. "Elder Law" has always been a particular focus of John's practice. He is keenly interested in and deals with problems and issues affecting older people. An example is John works to help older people making arrangements with retirement villages and can help with all the problems and pitfalls involved with those arrangements. John is able to help people with issues relating to powers of attorney and enduring guardianships. He can help you with creating those documents. He is also experienced in appearing before the Guardianship Tribunal on behalf of clients. E-mail: john@bromheadlegal.com.au Joshua Crowther - Solicitor
Joshua grew up in the Great Lakes area and was an active member of the community before heading to Newcastle to attend University to complete his degrees in journalism and law. Having completed his law degree with 1st class Honours and being admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of NSW and High Court of Australia, Joshua returned to the Forster area by joining Bromhead Legal in 2008. He regularly appears at the Forster Local Court for both criminal and civil matters and has a particular interest in 'elder law' and 'estate law'. He has represented numerous clients who have contested or defended the terms of a deceased person's Will. With Joshua Crowther and John Vaughan working together at Bromhead Legal, you can be sure to obtain the best advice and service at Bromhead Legal if you are thinking of contesting a Will or if you are an executor of a Will and have a claim against you. Joshua has specific experience in taxation law as it applies to the disposition of assets and interests in Wills, and he is aware of the hurdles that must be overcome when creating Wills in circumstances where the Will-maker has a mixed family arrangement (for example, where the Will-maker is in a second or third relationship and/or where there are biological and stepchildren of the household). Creating Wills in these situations are traditionally fraught with difficulties but Joshua can create Wills which minimise the chances of claims against an estate by discontented ex-spouses or stepchildren. Joshua has written scholarly articles relating to the difficulties associated with creating Wills in mixed family arrangements and is pleased to talk to clients about these difficulties. Joshua also has a degree in journalism (with Honours) which has allowed him to write various articles for the local newspaper. Joshua was offered to participate in a doctorate of philosophy at University but declined the offer so that he could complete his law degree. In 2007 Joshua received a NSW Australian Lawyers Alliance award for a scholarly article relating to contributory negligence in personal injury claims, and the Productivity Commission has published articles by him relating to the Disability Discrimination Act. Whilst at University, Joshua won the 2006 Annual Mooting Competition in criminal law and he was one of the two persons chosen to participate in a graduate law program where he gained experience in the Property/Commercial sector, including a commercial development acquisition worth $230,000,000. Joshua's interests outside of the office include trading the foreign currency markets, reading, writing and drawing. During his lunch hours Joshua can often be found swimming in the ocean baths and on weekends he plays rugby union for the Forster-Tuncurry Dolphins, a team which is also sponsored by Bromhead Legal. |
